Do you want to know how I got my flat stomach in 5 simple steps?

5 Simple steps to how I got my flat stomach. These are the 5 things I did to change my life. I was 40lbs overweight and I hated how I looked in the mirror. I had a big stomach and I had man boobs. I had low self-esteem and I lacked confidence. I tried to exercise but I was not consistent with it and I had very little motivation to work out. It was not until I changed my lifestyle and I adopted fitness with my arms wide open that I got the body that I wanted.

  1. You need to eat less and move more. It really is that simple, there are no secrets and there are no overnight tricks to shed the fat. The only way to lose fat is to put yourself on a calorie deficit. If you eat a lot of junk food, fast food, and processed food then you need to change your eating habits. You need to eat more lean protein, more vegetables, more fruit, and more whole wheat carbs. Carbs are ok to eat, carbs are not bad. However you must eat the right carbs, if it is white or full of sugar then stay away from it. If it is brown, or whole wheat then it is ok to eat in moderation. Fats are also good to eat too, but just like with carbs you must stay away from the bad fats, unsaturated is good, saturated is bad. Unsaturated fats are Avocados, Olive Oil, Coconut oil etc etc. Bad fats are lard, butter, and anything else which is hardened at room temperature.

  2. You need to move. I don’t care what you do to move I just care that you are moving and you have an elevated heart rate. If you have a lot of body fat to lose then you need to move at the bare minimum of 30 minutes 7 days a week. I believe you should pick an exercise you like to do. If you hate running then you will never stick with it, you will eventually give up. If you love to walk then you should walk, if you like to ride the bike then do that. Do a type of exercise you will actually be motivated to do every day.

  3. Drink more water. You should strive to drink anywhere between half an ounce to one ounce of water for each pound you weigh. Example if you weigh 150lbs then you should drink between 75-150 ounces every day. This of course depends on how active you are and the climate you are in. If you are moving around a lot and you are in a hot humid environment then you should drink closer to 1 ounce per bodyweight. Water has so many benefits such as Endocrine gland function improves, Liver functions improve which increases the percentage of fat used for energy, Your natural thirst returns, Metabolic functions improve, Nutrients are distributed throughout the entire body, your body temperature regulation improves, and Blood volume is maintained. If you are drinking a lot of sugary beverages throughout the day this could also be a reason why you have a calorie deficit. If you limit the amount of sugary beverages and substitute it with water you will feel better and your clothes will start to fit better too.

  4. Stop drinking alcohol. I didn’t get a completely flat stomach until I changed my lifestyle. I used to drink a lot and when I drank I made bad food choices. I would also be hung over the next day and I would half-heartedly work out. I thought that because I worked out sometimes, and sometimes I ate healthy, and I was drinking vodka and orange juice that I was supposed to be in good shape. I wasn’t dedicated to it and I was not making fitness a lifestyle. It was not until I changed my lifestyle to fitness that I got in great shape. Sure I might have a drink or two a couple times a year and I still eat delicious food, but these are few and far between. 90% of the time all of my choices are based on fitness and health.

  5. Get the negative people out of your life. Once you decide you are tired of being fat and you want to change then you are going to lose some people in your life. They are going to try to bring you down, they will tell you that you can’t do it, or it will never happen, or you will do it for a little while and then quit. You need to cut these people out of your life if you are truly ready to change. You need to have positive people in your life, you need cheerleaders pushing you on when it gets tough and trust me it will get tough. You don’t need negative Nancy’s dragging you down. These people will be jealous of the progress you are making and they will feel bad and sorry for themselves and they will do everything they can to bring you down with them, you don’t need that in your life let them go.
