Don’t try to be perfect all of the time, doing this will only set you up for failure when things don’t go as planned. There are many different things that can go wrong with fitness and nutrition. Trying to be perfect all of the time will only derail your momentum when life does not go as planned. We all know that life never goes exactly the way that we plan it, so why should it be any different with our fitness? If you only focus on perfection, then one un-planned night of having to eat fast food will throw your whole entire diet off track. Instead, focus on the progress that you are making instead of being perfect with everything that you do.
Each day try to be a little bit better than you were yesterday. A bunch of small increments over time equals huge results. If you are one percent better each day then over a year you will be 365% better! That sounds a lot better than trying to be 100% better in one day, then failing because it’s not realistic and then giving up on your fitness and nutrition. There will always be days where you aren’t perfect and it’s important to understand that it’s not a big deal. It’s not worth beating yourself up over it, just wipe the slate clean and start fresh. I personally have to constantly work on this all of the time. I don’t do very good with change, and when things don’t go as planned, I get upset. I have to remind myself to go with the flow and don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s a constant battle that I fight every single day, but over time I think I have got better at it.
Change your mindset from trying to be perfect all the time to focusing on the progress that you are making. You will be a happier person and you will be much more successful. It will also make the journey more enjoyable because your standards are not set too high and you can still enjoy yourself. Life is not meant to be on a diet 24x7x365. Life is precious and has a lot of special moments. If you are so focused on being perfect all of the time, then you will miss out on life.
